We're a specialty matcha shop on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles — a space designed for the unhurried. We source Japanese matcha from Kagoshima, pull espresso with intention, and prepare food that earns its place on the table.
At The Humanist, nothing arrives as-is. We hand-whisk matcha to order, poach eggs fresh for every plate, and our syrups, purées, and sauces are all made from scratch. Even our onions are pickled in-house. No matter the day, we still serve with real plates, mugs, and silverware.

House-made passion fruit purée, freshly hand-whisked Japanese matcha from Kagoshima, and milk of your choice.
Coffee
House-made brown sugar syrup, milk, and a double shot of espresso. Our most popular drink.

Fresh garden vegetables on artisan toast. A Humanist favorite.

Wonderful service, atmosphere so chill and the food and drinks are delicious 🫠 Everything is home made, fresh, clean, healthy options. The bathroom is like a calm world with music, clean and cute.
